Steve is the Founding Shareholder of the Firm having formed the original predecessor entity of the Firm in North Dallas in December 1990. He is the head of the Firm’s transaction practice.

Over the course of his 40 year career, Steve has become a trusted advisor and advocate for an impressive array of clients including the Board of Directors and Senior Management of publicly traded and privately held companies, high-net-worth families, real estate development and investment firms, professional athlete management ventures, professional and collegiate athletes, emerging technology companies and some of the largest church and ministry organizations in the country.

Steve received his undergraduate degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia where he graduated Magna Cum Laude and was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa academic society. He received his law degree in 1982 from Washington University at St. Louis, Missouri where he served as an Executive Editor of the Washington University Law Quarterly.

His primary areas of practice concentration include general business, corporate planning and drafting, business mergers and acquisitions, commercial and residential real estate, sports and entertainment, intellectual property, branding protection strategies as well as church and ministry organization matters.

In 1986, Steve led the legal team that secured a sweeping ruling in a music copyright infringement case on behalf of Van Halen Music which has been recognized in 138 subsequent citing references including Federal Appellate and District Courts, the Nimmer Copyright Treatise as well as various Law Journals and Law Review publications. This case is also presently cited in the State of California Pattern Jury Instructions.

He is licensed to practice law in Arkansas, Colorado and Texas.

Steve was selected for recognition in the 29th Edition of Best Lawyers In America® for his work in Real Estate Law.

  • Served as a high school baseball coach in the State of Colorado since 2004 (as Pitching Coach and Head Coach at several Colorado 4A and 5A schools).
  • His baseball coaching experiences also include work with the Costa Rican 19U National Team in the National Baseball Stadium in San Jose, Costa Rica.

  • Project leader for Cougar Baseball Diamond Club community service initiatives in support of various non-profit organizations providing services to those in need, including food pantry collection center work, winter coat drives and homeless population food service events.
